Hand in Hand
In September 2004, in the middle of the holy land a group of Palestinian and Israeli families decided that they wanted to build a better future for their children and themselves, and established a school for children from both communities. Bringing together the Arab and Jewish populations that live in the same area, the school provides a meeting point of equality for its pupils and an atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance of others' culture, language, and background. The bilingual school teaches in Hebrew and Arabic, with equal emphasis on each language, written and spoken, being an integral part of the schools environment. The school grows because hundreds of parents, Jews and Arabs, heard about its uniqueness and about the real changes it has on the children, the parents, and the communities.
