A Human Forum in Guatemala

Dear friends, the Human Forum of Guatemala, planned for September 3 to 5 this year has been indefinitely postponed by the Organizing Commitee due to the financial crisis affaecting the Government and the fact that the Ministry of Culture was the principal underwriter for the event. The national and international consortium of which the Alliance formed is considering other options for the future.

Estimados amigos, el Foro Humano de Guatemala programado del 3 al 5 de septiembre del año en curso ha sido indefinidamente pospuesto por el Comité Organizador debido a la crisis financiera que atraviesa el país y el hecho de que el Ministerio de Cultura era el principal auspiciador del evento. El consorcio de entidades nacionales e internacionales del cual la Alianza forma parte esta considerando otras opciones a futuro las cuales se comunicarán a ustedes una vez definidas.

Today, we are in transition between an exhausted worldview and an emergent, hopeful and vital one. The manifesting consciousness shift does not have the momentum yet to overcome the inertia of the prevailing paradigm. The aim of the Alliance is to accelerate this by helping to connect the forces of change. These forces are to be found among individuals with a heightened awareness of their interconnectedness with others, and with their milieu, which results in profound attitudinal change.

The emergent new consciousness tapped by the Alliance promotes a view of the world that coincides with that of many ancient cultures. Prominent among these are the early inhabitants of the Americas. The Mayan cosmic vision expounds three fundamental principles that are lacking in our prevailing world view: harmony between all beings, a heart centered intuitive approach, and the conception of work as an instrument to supplement nature’s own forces.

In the Partnership with the Council of Elders of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas, the Government of Guatemala, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Alliance will help convene in September 3 to September 5th 2009 a thematic Human Forum to bring together ancient wisdom and emerging consciousness as a platform for change.

The purpose of the Guatemala Human Forum is to connect these forces and to yield concrete initiatives for the realization of actions inspired in the new, yet ancient perception, of who we really are. The Mayans prophesied that from 1999 we would have 13 years to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens our consciousness to integrate us with all that exists.

The Human Forum of Guatemala; The Convergence of the Heart of Heaven with the Heart of Earth will be a unique thematic encounter because it will:

a. bring together contemporary transformational forces with ancient wisdom,
b. be held in Tikal one of the sacred spaces of Earth,
c. celebrate culture, reverence nature, and seek integrated responses to alleviate poverty and isolation by applying principles of integral vision through concrete initiatives.

Transformation of society can take place only if we are ourselves transformed, in our way of understanding and relating to the world. Latin America offers a vast array of cultures, ethnicities, ethical, spiritual and natural resources coupled with a multidimensional economy and public policy for general well being. The deeper purpose must be a new model for co-existence as a foundation for an interconnected planetary civilization.
