Art Transforms

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” -Pablo Picasso-

Reflection has always been the precursor of intelligent action. Today we face an unprecedented human emergency. We are at the crossroads of a new evolutionary moment in the history of humanity, we have the power to construct and nurture or to destroy and be callous, the technology to heal and support our fellow beings, or to live a life of wastefulness and unbridled vanity.

The intensity of this ethical dilemma, although ever present in our human condition, has now acquired life or death consequences for millions, as we have unraveled our technology and multiplied the impact of the choice between releasing the vast energy we now manage through technology, to heal or to maim. Never before has the choice been so terrible, nor had so many shared knowledge about the unified nature of our being, the consequences of our indifference, and the extent of our selfishness.

As we increase our waste, in our enclosed bubbles of comfort, millions die in abject need of food and health care. As we bask in the exhilarating accelerations of our modernity, awed by our gadgets, we lose the capacity of feeling and of being awed by the magic and beauty of our universe and our consciousness.

Instead of loving more, even as we know more about our life continuum, we escape in the fantasy of the images of our own creation, inventing superficial stereotypes and role models to follow. Instead of using our science and know how to bring water, food, shelter to billions in need, we splurge in bigger cars, acquire and waste more, and build bigger bombs to shy away those that have nothing, who grow in numbers and in despair.

However there is today in the world, an upwelling of hope, a movement of people that want to connect their humanity, to share their hope, as they become aware, that the consciousness evolved through our human history, has now arrived at a pivotal point; that we now have in place the instruments for true connectivity.

Modern science, has confirmed the wisdom of seers: we are all one family, we share a common origin and destiny, and we are all interconnected. We must come together as in a family reunion to recognize that we have a crisis at hand, make a commitment to expand our network of waking friends, and create a human network amongst those who want to celebrate and nurture life rather than destroy it. The strength of this network needs penetrate the images, sounds and symbols that today anesthetize our hearts.
We must develop strategies to enhance people to people connectivity, so we can create a human force that projects in mainstream media, the nobler sentiments that live within us in abundance, but that are not been given enough air time. We must replace the torrent of visual and sound impressions that resonate behaviors and attitudes which are not consonant with equity, selflessness, compassion, and the true joy of being. We must give equal time to compassion, joy and serenity, in our hype and excitable media envelope.

Human beings must come together in support of life and light. Right now each person and group is going his or her own way. The elders of so many traditions have said it repeatedly; the only hope is “if the people of the light can come together and unite in some way”.

Today the movement for change continues to be fragmented, and even those of us who seek to establish coalitions and alliances, and coordinate forces for change, continue along the inertial road where boundaries are laid out and differential branding is projected. Each one of us and our groups think they we are the most important, that our own understandings, are key. So there is competition, diffusion, and no single focus amongst the forces of light.
We each want to save the world in our way. We will not be able to push the cart out of the mud until we all push and heave in the same direction, and at the same time, even if from different grasps.

A new form of society will emerge. One that integrates consciousness, culture, nature through, arts, morals and science. One that gives room to personal values, collective wisdom and technical know-how. The ideological camps, the nation states, the traditional political parties, the sectarian exclusive religions, will have to give way to a new one family of humanity concept expressed in political, religious and ideological symbols that reflect the unified field of being and consciousness revealed by modern science and intuition, the new world centric view will replace ethnocentrism in all of its aspects. A true integral vision of humankind.

Art is a global language for change and inspiration. It knows no boundaries. It speaks to our inner needs. It invites healing and transformation. It allows us to imagine and imagination makes everything possible. It provides a tool for heart to heart communication between individuals, and between communities. It allows us to see and to listen to each other.

Creativity for Change; A Forum on Human Possibility; Art as an instrument for personal and social transformation. This is the theme and tagline for the Human Forum of the Alliance that will be held at the La Costa Hotel in San Diego, from 12 to 14th November 2009. The Alliance with the collaboration of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the San Diego Museum of Art will host the encounter. A sample of global initiatives would allow participants to see first hand how art is being used in the world through its multiple expressions to change individual attitudes and perception that make us more connected with our humanity, as well as to transform communities, enterprises, and social processes in building the bases of a more sustainable, just and peaceful world.

The great genius Spanish painter of the 20th century , Pablo Picasso, said once “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”.  The Human Forum Interactive sessions will enable participants to express their artistic potential, to represent in images, form and movement, their dreams and hopes for a better world and to build the inner language that will allow us to connect with love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, and forgiveness that is already emerging within all. The encounter will explore how we can collectively reformulate our models, to come up with an imaginative and engaged response for the transformation of the world. One that is based on a new integral vision, that would allows us to arrive at the highest levels of human possibility and creative potential.

Explore with us how art can be the main tool for transformation and the creation of a New Humanity. Mark your calendars 12 to 14th November 2009 in Carlsbad California.
