Meditation

Breathing in Abundance

Close your eyes and take a few breaths. Notice your breath as the air rises and falls in your lungs. As you exhale, release fully, allowing all the air in your lungs to leave. Now inhale fully, really filling your lungs up with air. Do this two or three more times, then open your eyes. Did you worry that upon the exhale there wouldn’t be any more air for you to inhale?

Meditation ... Silencing the Mind's Activity

Meditation is the progressive quieting of the mind until it reaches its source in thought, the realm of pure consciousness. Today many people recognize that the most fundamental level of nature is what mathematicians and physicists call discontinuity.

So-Hum Mantra

This is the mantra of the breath; if you observe your breathing you'll hear "so-hum" as air moves in and out of your lungs. As you inhale, the sound of the vibration is "so". And as you exhale, the sound becomes "hum". If you want, you can experiment with this.

The Heart Sutra Meditation - Deepak Chopra

This is a meditation exercise that demonstrates the power of intention. But it is more than a mere demonstration. Do this regularly so that this ritual can focus your attention and your intention. Go to a quiet place where you are not likely to be disturbed for 15 minutes.

Meditation Techniques

Because people have many different temperaments, many different meditative techniques have been developed. If you have never meditated, you might wish to try several of the following techniques to discover which one is the best for you.

Alternate Nostril Breath

This breath balances brain hemispheres to encourage both linear and creative thought. It balances the endocrine system, induces a sense of inner peace, encourages deeper, more restful sleep.

Centering Breath

Sit down or lay down comfortably and close your eyes. Place your hands

Gratitude Breath

Appreciation of your breath is a profound transformational tool. Stop and give thanks for life sustaining breath. Imagine if you suddenly stopped breathing?!?! It would change your perspective on the dramas, fears, doubts and worries of the day, for sure. Practise deep gratitude for your breath (your life!!!) and breathe deeply often.
